Mountain Bikes at Eurocycles
One of the most popular types of bikes, mountain bikes, or MTB, are only relatively recent, and the first purpose-built mountain bike dates from 1978. Nowadays, there is a wide variety of mountain bikes available depending on your riding style. Trail bikes are the most common off-road bicycles and are designed for general rough terrain use. Cross country bicycles or XC bikes offer a perfect solution for competitive cross-country riding, while downhill mountain bikes with full suspension are your best ally for pure descent fun.
At Eurocycles, we offer a full selection of mountain bikes, from beginner trail bikes to electric mountain bikes. Providing for every type of rider, we carry adult mountain bikes and mountain bikes for kids.
What is a mountain bike?
A Mountain bike is an off-road/trail bike. With flat handlebars, knobby tyres, powerful brakes and durable wheels, these bikes are designed to brave rough terrains absorbing shocks, giving you proper traction no matter the conditions, and all that in comfort.
Which mountain bike brand is best?
Although we might be a little biased, we love Scott's mountain bike range. With a winning track record and years of experience, Scott delivers one of the best mountain bike range there is on the market today.
In addition, our Bergamont selection of mountain bikes complements our Scott's range, offering budget-friendly mountain bikes with quality components, including Shimano Deore gear system.
What mountain bike size do I need?
Choosing the right size is paramount to being comfortable on your bike. A wrongly sized bike will be twitchy, nervous and uncomfortable.
While there is no perfect rule to finding the right mountain bike frame size, you can check our mountain bike size guide or consult the manufacturer's size guide on each bike we sell.
And if you need more information, do not hesitate to contact us at webstore@eurocycles.com. We'll be happy to guide you.
Can mountain bikes be used on the road?
Yes, you can use a mountain bike on roads. If you want to have the option to switch from trails to roads then a MTB is a good option. However, their knobby tyres and design are not built with aerodynamics in mind, and might feel slow and sluggish on tarmac. A hybrid bike might be more suited for this kind of use.
Can mountain bikes get wet?
Mountain bikes are designed to take on the punishment of off-road riding muddy trails and wet paths included. Their sturdy frames and sealed parts mean that mountain bikes are marginally affected by the rain. So, there is no reason why you can't cycle your mountain bike in the rain unless you are discouraged by it yourself.
Will a mountain bike fit in my car?
Mountain bikes are probably a little bulkier than their road counterparts, but with some adjustment (taking a wheel off), you can fit a mountain bike into a boot. However, we recommend other solutions to make it easier on yourself and keep your boot clean, like our range of car racks.
When to clean mountain bike?
Talking about cleanliness, your mountain bike will get pretty muddy and dirty with use. We recommend you give it a thorough wash after each off-road session. We have a great selection of cleaning products to help you with this task here.
What is the difference between a mountain bike and a road bike?
Mountain bikes are designed for off-road, while road bikes, as their name indicates, are suited for road cycling. A mountain bike will have flat wide handlebars for extra manoeuvrability, suspension for comfort and big tyres to resist the impact of the rough terrains.
