If you're thinking of taking up cycling this spring, then our guide will help you determine the right bike for your needs. There are many types of bikes on the market. Here we will break down  bike type and its specific uses.

ROAD BIKES

Designed for efficiency and speed on paved roads. They have drop handlebars and narrow tires. They are generally faster bikes because of their riding position.

MOUNTAIN BIKES

Made for rough terrain and off-road trails. They ride more upright and have broader tires and suspension. A hardtail mountain bike will have a front suspension fork, and a full suspension bike will have both front and rear suspension.

HYBRID BIKES

Bikes that may be used both on and off-road are known as hybrid bikes. They are less robust than mountain bikes but have bigger tires and a more upright riding stance than road bikes. A hybrid bike is ideal for leisure cycles with family on the weekend but also is a perfect option for commuting.

COMMUTER BIKES

Created with daily commuting in mind, they typically have an upright riding position and extras like fenders, bag racks, and lights. The commuter bike is built to carry you, and whatever accessories needed when you get to work, like clothes, lunch and more.

CRUISER BIKES

Cruiser bikes have an upright, comfortable riding position and frequently include features like broad saddles, swept-back handlebars, and baskets. They are designed for recreational riding and leisurely cruising.

FOLDING BIKES

ELECTRIC BIKES

Electric bikes, or e-bikes are bicycles fitted with an electric motor to assist the rider while they pedal. They can make cycling more convenient and approachable for lots people. The range of the E-bike is something to consider when purchasing.

Which bike is best for beginners?

The type of bike for a beginner will differ from person to person. The most popular bicycle to get as a beginner is the Hybrid bike. It is a versatile bike that suits most activities a beginner will undertake. A hybrid bike is an excellent choice because it combines the advantages of both road and minor off-road activities. They often ride more upright and have broader tires for stability and comfort; when compared to road bikes.

A bike that is convenient, comfortable, and appropriate for the rider's intended use is the best bike for beginners. We recommend testing several options to get a feel of the right bike for you and your needs. Not only is the right bike important, but the size is also important. How do I choose a bike?

When selecting a bike, you should consider your riding preferences, budget, physical capabilities and terrain. You should take the following steps:

If you are employed, you might be eligible for the cycle-to-work scheme. You should check with your employer whether they participate in the scheme.
